DP or PD (Pulse Drive) regulators get their drive signal from the ECU. The ECU determines the state of
the battery and sends the appropriate PWM signal to the DP regulator. Ordinary Testers or Alternator
bench testing will damage the DP type regulator if used without the TA277 Adapter box.
The Adapter Box also provides an AC Stator output signal which modern multifunction regulators use
for determining rotation and soft start control.
Also included in the adapter box is the ACTIVE Warning Lamp drive signal.
